I loved the story, hated the heroine. Mindless, needless, self- centered, she made me crazy with her ranting, and unwillingness to look beyond her own short term goals, no matter whom she hurt along the way. Round and round again, the question goes - love me for who I am, please, or cause pain and suffering to everyone else. The heroine is just too small for this story, lacks character and doesn't seem capable of growing into a likable woman. I believe two books was just too much of the same. The mystery isn't settled by the end of a cliff hanging book one, and again in book two, while the story probably resolves in book three. I must admit to feeling cheated when a series isn't stand alone enough to resolve itself, and you are required to buy another to complete the plot. I would have preferred less "I hate him" "I want him", and He's a monster but I want him, he's noble and I want him. Gets old- might be better to either buy all three or don't start.Tags : King for a Day (The King Trilogy, Book 2) - Kindle edition by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. King for a Day The King Trilogy Book 2 edition by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
A both thrilling and shocking race against time to find answers and solve problems walking in an inexplicable man’s shoes.
For Mia, filling King’s sexy shoes for 1.609 km was as enlightening as it was altering. By King’s own insistence she learns of his past and his nature.
“All along, he’d wanted me to see the truth, the evil, the horrors of his existence, so that I might understand and accept him anyway. Scars, beauty, pain, and all.”
But she is also under duress, pushed beyond her limits and faced with the fact that she can’t even trust her own blood much less a man like King who has an age old agenda. Mia is forced into a corner where she must make decisions and take action that undoubtedly change her.
“Where light once existed, only darkness reigned. Where hope once flourished, despair lived.”
Because full disclosure has never been in King’s nature. However, this alteration is not one sided. King is also affected by Mia’s bravery, kindness and hope.
“If I had not been so reluctant to believe you would see past my scars and pain, I would not have been so cold, so secretive. But I know you were brought to me for a reason.”
I genuinely enjoy Mimi’s writing style. This is a fast paced, action packed sequel that included just enough sexy
“The thought of him wanting me in such an absolute manner felt terrifying, yet at the same time, sparked a deep, dark satisfaction.”
And enough humor
“Am I dreaming?”
“No. Shall I pinch you?”
I nodded my head.
He reached down and pinched my arm.
“Ouch!” I yelped. “That really hurt.”
And sufficient conflicting emotions to leave you desperately wanting and waiting the next book.
NOTE This series should be read in order. This book is the second in the series and will not be understood if read in incorrect order.
Come on Mimi, how can you do this to us?
I am in the position again of frustration with authors who don't give us the whole story. Why give us 2 books together and then make us wait months for the last one. I could maybe understand if there was a HFN or a feeling that there is hope, but I felt a little flat at the end of this one.
I don't get Mia's devotion to King and he doesn't give me any feelings or beliefs that he is doing anything that isn't self-serving. Because of this, I am not convinced that they are heading towards a HEA.
I will probably be reading the last book eventually, but I think their hit and miss connection has been drawn out too long.
I have been a fan of this author for a while and I hope her future work will not be full of cliffhangers and frustrations. Hopefully I will get to read the next book before I forget the storyline.
Another cliffhanger but it is a Trilogy so it’s to be expected. I just wish that we didn’t have to wait so long!
The story continues with Mia looking for King after he disappeared in book1. She has gone back to the office and waits every day with no sign of him. Just when she’s about to give up hope of ever finding him, she finds a clue which leads her to learning things about King as well as other things that she never could have imagined. Not just super natural things that shouldn’t be able to exist or happen but also about King’s true origin.
Before she can find other clues that will lead her to King though, Vaughn has delivered an ultimatum, if King does not come forward within 24 hours Club 10 will take everything from King and since she “belongs” to King, that would include her. With Mack’s help, they try to acquire and deliver the items that King has promised his clients before the time is up. But when these are not normal people that she is dealing with. They are sick, demented people that do not believe in playing by the rules. She’s always stated that she would never trust King and that he would never own her but it may be the only way out that she can make it our alive.
This book is just as good, if not better than book 1 since we not only find where King comes from but also what he is. My only complaint was that I didn’t care for Mia in the end. I didn’t like what she has become and hope that she will redeem herself in book 3.
